The Latest Scoop on Undeniable and Undone, the Latest book in the Steamy Paranormal Romance Series by K.R. Cook

Bloodlust meets witchcraft in the latest book in the spicy Paranormal Romance series by K.R. Cook - Undeniable and Undone. While each book in this provocative series focuses on a different couple, there is something a little different about book five, something that sets it apart from all other books.

Instead of only seeing the story through the eyes of the leading lady, in Undeniable and Undone, we'll finally get to see what's going on in the mind of her intended lover - Jesse Jackson (a vampire, warlock, and demon hunter)! While past romantic interests of the MCs have voiced their opinions and showed their true character, we've never actually read their deepest, darkest thoughts, or just how deeply in love they are with their soul mate. And Jesse is definitely IN LOVE with Rose. While Jesse's thoughts won't take up more than a few chapters, it's incredibly exciting to find out what's going on in his mind!

Let talk more about Rose and Jesse. What's their story so far?

We saw a glimpse of Rose and Jesse in book four, Unleashed and Undone, as Rose is the younger sister of Velda Everspark. Velda used the family’s dark grimoire and allowed herself to be posessed by three demons who called themselves The Three in order to find and kill a vampire who murdered her friend, Mindy. And this isn’t just any vampire - he’s a serial killer we’ve seen here-and-there throughout the series. While he was mainly shown in book one, Undead and Undone, he finally makes a massive bang in Unleashed and Undone, pissing off witches. He definitely shouldn’t have done that, as you’ll see in book four AND book five. Long story short, Velda made a mistake in unleashing demons, and even Jesse Jackson, a vampire warlock called upon to clean it all up, couldn’t stop one of the three from escaping into the world. Rose showed up shortly after the demon got loose, and she gave Velda a tongue-lashing for using the dark grimoire AGAIN. This wasn’t the first time Velda cracked open the bad book. The last time she’d used it had been when she was thirteen and Rose was nine, immediately after they’d found their mother had been murdered by her vampire lover. Velda had promised Rose she’d never touch dark magick again, but that promise had been broken. Jesse, of course, is there to witness Rose’s rage as she lectures Velda about being reckless, becoming smitten with the witch. Rose, of course, isn’t interested in the vampire, and rejects his flirting, telling him she’d rather down bleach than kiss him. Yikes. Jesse isn’t fazed by her dismissal and promises to see her again soon.

While Velda reflected some on past trauma in book four due to the murder of their mother, she's less afflicted with pain and grief compared to her younger sister, Rose. We'll see this pain reflected in the PTSD Rose suffers from in the form of flashbacks of finding their mother drained, manifest throughout the book. Rose hates vampires, and that includes Jesse. Fortunately for our enemies-to-lovers couple, Rose’s smart mouth and hoity stare directed at Jesse doesn’t send him packing. On the contrary, it only makes him want her more. Secretly, Rose wants him, too. We'll get to see her deal with conflicting feelings while she not only stares daggers directly at him but secretly spies on him in the form of a cat!

She’s not the only one stalking. Jesse’s been hanging around her apartment, casting protective spells and watching over her, something she finds out about but isn’t exactly upset by.

What changed, though? Why is Rose suddenly interested in a vampire?

It’s because she’s been plagued by sex dreams of Jesse! In book four, she even goes to Velda in a desperate state of mind to ask for a tarot reading. She fears she’s meant to be with Jesse, that these dreams are premonitions telling of her fate. After the reading, Rose has to deal with an unsettling truth: she really is meant to be with Jesse, and she’s meant to be undead. Just like in her dreams.

How does the book continue from the previous one?

Let’s have a quick recap. We left off with a bit of a cliffhanger in book four when Rose sacrificed herself to save the world thanks to the evil vampire serial killer who's been a thorn in our ass since book one. He got his hands on the dark grimoire by abducting Rose and luring Velda to him. He’d promised an exchange: Rose’s life for the book. Of course, he’d lied and planned to kill Rose anyway. Unfortunately for him, Jesse showed up and staked him before ripping his head off. It sounds gruesome, but for those reading, had been pretty dang hot. How dare this guy harm Jesse’s girl! Turns out, this vamp they thought Jesse killed is immortal, and they’d thoughtlessly left the grimoire with him in his sewer lair. After the vampire did a spell using the dark grimoire to end the world, there was really only one thing that could be done - Everspark blood had to be spilled and a sacrifice made to undo the spell. In book five, we actually start off BEFORE the world ended and Rose died. I wanted everyone to see things that’d happened between her and Jesse behind the scenes in book four, things Velda didn’t see or was completely oblivious to. I wanted to build up their relationship before she sacrificed herself with flirting and banter and heavy sexual tension. She and Jesse needed time to fall for each other long before she was dragged into Hell… with Jesse’s blood in her system. See, he’d fed her his blood against her will after rescuing her from the serial killer vamp, taking out an insurance policy of sorts on her life. If she were to do something else reckless like stalking a serial killer vampire (yep, that’s how she got on his radar) or end up in trouble, she’d at least have a chance of coming back undead. This of course made Rose despise Jesse even more. After Rose was grabbed by a shadow and pulled into Hell screaming, Velda was inconsolable... until Jesse told her he'd go to Hell himself to get her little sis out. Book five won't immediately pick up from that point, but we'll get to see how Rose's feelings for Jesse develop prior to being dragged into Hell. We'll also experience her own premonitions (just like Velda had in book four), the flirting and backtalking with Jesse, and hear more about her past with Velda and their mother.

Rose had Jesse's blood in her system when she sacrificed herself. How will that play out after she goes to Hell?

Now that she's died with Jesse’s blood in her system, that can only mean one thing: She's stuck in Hell UNDEAD. And not only that! The dimension itself is about to collapse now that the souls held captive were unleashed after Rose killed The Three - the demons holding the dimension together.

What will this mean for Rose? For Jesse and their future? Rose hates vampires after all. How will she deal with this new unlife? We saw a glimpse of the newfound hatred for Jesse she showed after he'd fed her his blood in book four. Velda thought for sure Jesse was about to get punched for what he'd done (at the very least), but Rose had simply walked off fuming. One can only tame rage for so long…

But will Jesse save Rose from Hell like he vowed at the end of book four?

If they don't rescue her in time before the dimension collapses, they can't be together. Someone has to save her so they can have their HEA (happily ever after).

What else can we expect from the new installment?

Loads of spice, spells, twists, trauma, and even more deadly secrets. It just wouldn't be very Undone-ly of the author NOT to keep you on the edge of your seat as you flip the pages of this enticing new read.

What about the spice? Will it be spicier than past books?

Let's just say there's definitely a fair amount of spice, some even in the form of sex dreams plaguing Rose. Jesse's been pleasing her unconsciously but leaving her wanting more when she awakens. This makes denying Jesse much more difficult than she'd like. It also means something more than just secretly wanting the vamp - Rose now knows she’s meant to be with Jesse and to be undead. She will eventually return as a vampire, and we’ll get to see her not only struggle with that, but struggle in denying Jesse. He certainly makes it difficult by not staying away (he’s still lurking around, making sure she’s safe). Eventually, just as rage becomes untamable, passion does, too.

What about the secrets? What secrets?! Is it about Jesse?

These secrets are certainly unexpected. I definitely don't want to give hints or spoil it for you. Rest assured that our lovers will have their HEA, though (I always promise that).

What witchcraft will we see? Will we see more than we did in book four?

Absolutely. Rose is much more powerful than Velds despite not practicing as much due to her aversion to magick after witnessing Velda go mad using dark magick from the dark grimoire following the murder of their mother. We'll see more spells cast and more witchy tunes, so to speak. We'll see Rose struggle with using again, but she quickly gets the hang of it.

When will we see book five? What's the release date?

2024 but TBD on the exact date. I'm aiming for spring, but I want to get the book as perfect as I can for you. I will say it's my favorite book in the series so far. I hope you enjoy it, too!

In the meantime, there are four other books we can obsess over while we wait.

You don't NEED to read the previous books in order to get what's going on in book five, but each story is unique in itself, and everyone finds their favorite couple. For some, it's Madison and Dorian (their love story started the series). For others, it's Hailey and Derick or Ivy and Julian or Velda and Landon. Some love werewolves more than vamps or vice versa. And some really love the witchy books!

What book has the most spice?

Probably book one, Undead and Undone. There are A LOT of sex scenes. A LOT.

What was the absolute hottest sex scene in Undead and Undone?

That's a tough question! I'm torn between the motorcycle scene, the couch scene, and the alleyway scene between Club Vudu and another building. There are way more than that, but those three stand out in my mind.

What happened with the motorcycle?!

Let's just say they do things ON the motorcycle. It's HOT.

Other books have their fair amount of spice as well! I take my time writing romances to ensure there’s enough tension built up between lovers, that the eventual spicy scenes aren’t cringe, to wrap everything up perfectly for myself and my readers.
